'Thanks' button

Post by PoophairJones »

Just recently thought sth like this would be neat to have at least in the releases sections^^
You know xentax has these buttons under a post where you can click on ...it's similar to like sth on Facebook for eg and think it's pretty nice actually ><

Is it possible to have sth like that here? Just asking xD

Yeah, it's a good idea. I think a lot of people don't comment because they don't want to mess up those neat looking threads, lol. And I guess just hitting that 'thanks' button takes less effort too. :P

I think it was discussed a while ago but I don't know what happened to it. :P

Yeah, I can add a thanks for post button. I brought it up a while ago but wasn't sure if everyone wanted it. I will add it in the next day or two.

Currently working on it now... may another take a day or two to safely implement. You won't notice any changes here since I am doing the testing on a test phpbb forum installed on my home computer.

Question: Do you guys want this with or without the thread stars? Like xentax, the thanks mod contains code to output a bunch of stars depending on how many thanks the thread has received relative to other threads. I've always found those stars annoying lol. :herp:

Wish there was also an "informative", "useful", "artistic" etc buttons... kinda like facepunch.

I would suggest a dumb button but I dunno if people will think its... dumb.

I noticed the "Thanks given" "Thanks received" stats on the left side poster profiles. When can we use the thanks button?

It will be soon. There's also something I want to add but it has to be done somewhat slowly since one wrong move with any of the phpbb mysql tables and I can bring the whole forum down. I also moved the online button below the avatar cuz I am going to implement custom status messages (like on TRF's Professor, etc but you can choose your own message). One thing I noticed after moving the online button below the avatar is that my Site Admin text became gray rather than red lol. That's the thing with this... you change one thing you end up screwing up three other things in the process ha ha ha.
