PS3 extraction help, please?

Post by ellegirl01 »

Noobtard alert:

I have a friend who has Koei games I want to extract models from, and offered to send me their game data off their PS3/PS4. Am I correct in telling them to make an ISO and send me that, or can they just send me whatever save data they have? What if they have DLC they want to send me; what formats would they have to use so that I received the correct data to extract?

They told me that ' Orochi doesnÔÇÖt have a System Data file that DW has. Just the Save Data.' But the save data is like 1MB, and I told them that's not what I needed...right? They were trying to transfer their data from their PS3 to their PS4 and something went wrong somehow...I don't know; I don't have a PS4 to know what they're going through.

But yeah, I really just want to tell them to make an ISO and send it to me. But I have no idea where installed game data is stored on PS3/4's and how they could bundle all that up and send it someone online.

most games can be downloaded from PSN for free. No ISOs are really needed, as getting ISOs requires jailbroken PS3 and special software. Much easier to get the PKG version of the game from PSN. Getting PKG is easy but requires somebody to sniff HTTP packets (Wireshark) on PC using internet connection sharing on PC between your PC and PS3.

As for PS4, nothing can be extracted ATM, but maybe soon.

So without Wiresharking, I can extract PKG files?

I ask, because I tried before with the DLC .pkgs, and always got the same problem using TrueAncestor on the .edat files; it would never let me decompress them. :(

That's why I asked about getting game data off the PS3 and onto the PC. I didn't get far at all with the .pkg file route.

Never heard of Wireshark before. (I did a quick Youtube search and it says all kinds of stuff about hacking people's password information -- whaaaaaaaaat?....)

I read somewhere that using 1.42 was supposed to be better, but when I tried, it stopped me even faster.

And V1 said to check if my my Rap file was invalid; IDKY, it's the right one.

I also read that some edats don't work anyway, but I don't know which are which, so....

I don't know if you got my PM or not, so

Here are the ones I tried; the 2 highest and the 2 lowest in file size from the Warriors Orochi 3 Samurai Costumes DLC Pack (not the crossover disguises; I couldn't find them (darnit) ):

http://www.mediafire.com/download/vhl2l ... 03301.edat

Here's the Rap file they said was invalid:

2 Years and the discussion never continued :/ Tekken Tag 2 (anything from Ps3 iwthout Jailbraking or other methods) seems like a butt to do but T6 PSP is available in many sites, how about ripping its models?
