Help with the texture of a meshmod?

Post by Kcthanagarathos »

I'm rather inexperienced in doing things in XNA, but I wanted to know how I could make the outside of his body look more like fire. I've seen that some models have this odd oily sheen on them and it looked perfect, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Is anyone able to help me out?

Can you post a link? Just to see what kind of effect you want to get...

I mean to the model with the effect you want to reproduce yourself :) just to have an idea of what you're trying to get. The link you posted somehow directs me the forum homepage.

That's weird.

The model looks like this:

The effect I want to achieve looks like this:

It's almost like a metallic sheen.

Oooh, isn't that the metallic render group??

The render group for it is 26 (27 if you have anything transparent or you want the effect to be transparent)

To use the render group, you need the diffuse, a normal map, and the metallic map applied on the mesh.

Different maps will give you different results, so it's best if you experiment with metallic maps in order to get one that looks about right :P
