Re: Nuances of the Fighting Genre
Those Red Bull costumes were obviously meant for marketing to certain demographics. But ya, I think those costumes sucked ass too.

I am so ............ right now.
Way to screw up a timeless classic by reusing one of the most remake versions.

Re: Nuances of the Fighting Genre
They are previewing the game on Nintendo's Treehouse livestream at the moment.
Just ..... meh.
I'm glad that they actually included the full classic SSFIIT game, but once you switch over to HD mode, it is just crappy Flash graphics SSFIITHDR with added Evil Ryu and Violent Ken.
Also the game speed for both modes seems wrong. It's back to SSFII-ish levels of speed. Maybe it's just for demo purposes at the moment since they don't show the speed selector, otherwise just .
This really is budget ass budget Capcom at it's finest.

Re: Nuances of the Fighting Genre
After the fake leak many months ago, now she is finarry for real.
Not only is this update going to be released as a full retail package in typical ArcSystem fashion, the best news is existing owners of Revelator can still get Rev 2 as a paid DLC update . They are finarry learning at last!

Here's what USFII's new throw tech looks like.
Pretty much inline with everything from SFIII onwards.
It's going to take alot of readjusting to.

Re: Nuances of the Fighting Genre
Yes but seeing it in action, how it's done and animated is another thing.
We're talking about something that is being added and changed fundamentally to a game that is 26 years old now at it's core, so it is a big deal.
It's like saying USFII is nearing Mugen status.

Re: Nuances of the Fighting Genre
I personally think it's odd that they're adding a modern throw breaking mechanic to a really old game that didn't have it, and have the throws/breaks executed the old way. If they wanted the game to be familiar to '09ers and/or '16ers they could've made it lp + lk, but I suppose Capcom wanted to keep the old feel of the game.
If I were Capcom, I'd add a real throw break animation (the current animation looks a bit stupid) and make the throw break a strict timing, while keeping the throw softening in ST. So you guess things right, you break the throw with no damage, you break too late then you merely soften the throw. Should make the OGs, '09ers and '16ers happy (or at least more accepting).
EDIT: Also worth noting is that Evil Ryu has command normals in the game. Is it safe to assume that part of the whole rebalancing would mean other characters will get command normals instead of the old proximity attacks?

Re: Nuances of the Fighting Genre
It's really going to change the offensive and footsies game that is for sure.
And Command Normals already exist for some of the characters so really it's nothing different.
