Character Hair Texture in Maya

Post by OniAkatsuki »

I exported a character model from XNALara to Maya and theres issues with the hair texture. Anyone understand UV textures or able to help me solve this issue. I plan to rig this character, Tina (DoA5 in a swimsuit).

Not many people who frequent here use Maya...

Though like you posted on the other thread I'm not sure why you want to rig a model that already has a good... no... great rig.

i was thinking the exact same thing... but wasn't sure if there was a maya exporter for xnalara mesh format. but it's not hard to go from xnalara -> blender -> maya right?

The reason behind it is I plan to animate then into a short video. XPS and XNALara doesnt give me that freedom. :|

I have the FBX files but when imported to maya or max still having issues with the hair mesh. Im gonna assume it's UV issues, which i'm not sure how to deal with it.

The UV seem to be in place, but the hair itself looks like strand of noodles. Notice at the tip of the hair doing downward?

alpha. you need to set the mesh to respond to transparent textures, im not sure how to do it in maya however, and it may only respond to it when rendering out your render or animation.

Second that. Alpha map issue.

Gonna sound like an ass but you sure you know how to use Maya? Cuz thats looking like not a UV problem.
