no don't do that
make the change in the ascii file i told you
apparently you "misnamed" your render group
i changed it to 25_pants_1_0_0 and it saved fine

marv and i were just talking about it and it looks like some undocumented feature to prevent people from making meshmods of XPS models (though it's really easily hackable).
